Ree’s Rascal showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with, even off a mark of 85, with a great effort to finish 2nd in a 0-90 handicap at Windsor today. Given another nice ride by stable apprentice Nathan Alison, he ran on to challenge the winner inside the final furlong, but just had to give best to a better handicap rival on the day. He is such a consistent horse, and I’d love to train a yard full like him.
June is historically a busy month, and this month has been no different, though we haven’t had too many runners in the last week. Those that have run have on the whole continued to run with credit, culminating in a first, and much deserved victory for Clearing. Clearing is the latest home-bred foal of our mare Spring Clean to see the track, and having shown plenty of promise in her first four runs, duly made all the running under Joe Fanning to get off the mark at the fifth attempt. Joe thought she still had a bit left in the tank, so we hope she can double her winning tally in the coming weeks. Continue reading
